Answers:

Beth Richardson Assistant Director Human Resources

  • We finished the program in December.  We went through Concordia University of Chicago, this is the same program Rachael and I did for our principal licenses.  This program was licensure only so it was a year long program.
  •  I have always been interested in learning about systems, how and why they are structured the way they are, how they work, etc, it started in high school and college with government and learning how our governing system worked/operated.  When I became a teacher I understood the impact my classroom had on my students, but I wanted to see how a building worked within the education system, meaning how do all the components work together to help students within that school's grade band, so I got my principal's license.  This was the next gradual step in understanding the education system, having a Super license allows me to learn how the system works across the entire district and within the state system.
  •  I am so glad to be done.  It was hard learning a new position within the district and taking coursework at the same time.  There were times I was pretty sure my brain was going to explode from all of the new learning.  But I truly learned so much that it was definitely worth it.
  •  Yup we were all in the same cohort.  With it being an online program it was nice to be able to talk to others about what we were learning outside of the classroom assignments.
  • This is my 17th year.  I've been with PLSD since the 07-08 school year.  I taught Spanish at Central from 2007-2016, then I was the Assistant Principal at Diley the 16-17 school year.  I moved to Ridgeview as the Lead Assistant Principal in 2017 and was in that position through 2020 and took over as principal in the fall of 2020.  I moved to district office in December of 2022 for my current role.

Amy McKinney District English Learner Coordinator

  • We all completed the program from Concordia University in December of 2023 and all had our license issued then too.
  •  See below
  •  Excited and empowered!
  •  This is my second year. This is my 22nd year in education.
  •  This learning also completes my second year of my doctorate. I have previously completed four graduate licensure programs resulting in four licenses/endorsements and two Master degrees. This is the highest level state license I can obtain in my field that will allow me to grow in my leadership skills and serve students, staff, and families in new ways. I am the first in my family to graduate from college. As a life-long learner I am always looking for new ways to grow, challenge myself, and do more for kids. I am proud of my accomplishment. I am even more proud of my friends!  I am so grateful that we were able to do this TOGETHER!

Rachael Hanagan Secondary Curriculum Coordinator

  •  Finished the program in December of 2023 through Concordia University Chicago.  Received my license in early January 2024.
  •  I wanted to get my superintendent's license to learn more about the work that goes on at District Office and also because it opens up a lot of opportunities in education.  Initially, it was to get the position that I currently have.
  •  I feel great about finishing the program, I learned how to see things on a broader scope and on a personal level, I am done taking classes and can focus on my son's senior year.
  • We were all in the same program, Beth and I did our Educational Leadership program together and became Principals at the junior high together so she is definitely my support person!
  • I worked for Pickerington Local Schools from 2001-2004 and then came back in 2006-present.  I have been a teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal and now Secondary Curriculum Coordinator for PLSD.
