  • Pickerington Preschool, a part of Pickerington Schools' special education services, fosters learning for children with disabilities and their typically developing peers. Children aged three to five are welcomed, with free services provided to those qualifying for disability support. This inclusive approach utilizes peer models to encourage appropriate behavior, social skills, and communication. A limited number of tuition-based peer models, residing in the Pickerington district, are integrated into classrooms, offering all children a diverse and enriching preschool experience. The program adheres to Ohio Department of Education and federal mandates, led by licensed teachers following developmentally-appropriate activities within the Creative Curriculum.

      Early Learning Development Standards

      • On October 9, 2012, the State Board of Education adopted Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards in all domains of school readiness to reflect the comprehensive development of children beginning at birth to kindergarten entry.  The development of these standards represented a collaboration between state agencies serving young children. The state agencies worked with national experts and writing teams made up of Ohio-based content experts and stakeholders to revise and expand the standards.
