Introducing Mr. Michael Kauffeld - Principal, Toll Gate Middle School

Michael Kauffeld graduated from Capital University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He received his Master  of Educational Leadership Degree from Ashland University in 2004. Michael coached football at Capital University from 1990 until 1995. He taught and was  the Athletic Director at Hamilton Township High School from 1995-2002. Michael has been with the Teays Valley Local School District since 2002.  At Teays Valley he served as a high school teacher, middle school assistant principal and principal at Teays Valley West Middle School (an Ohio School to Watch). In 2021, Michael joined the Pickerington Local School District as the principal at Toll Gate Middle School. His wife, Jennifer, is a principal with South Western City School District and they have five children.

Welcome Toll Gate Middle School Families. We have been busy getting ready for you! Join us for our Open House, Friday, August 13 from:

                  3:00 – 3:45 pm Student last name A – L

                  4:00 – 4:45 pm Student last name M – Z

These times are suggested to help alleviate parking concerns, however, If you are unable to come at the designated time, please join us for one the group sessions.

This is a chance to meet your teachers and office staff, become familiar with the school, and pick up your test results from the 2020 – 2021 school year. We will have a special drawing with prizes awarded to students who attend Open House and complete all of the Open House Objectives.

Please enter through the doors at the front of the building near the Aux. Gym (look for the sign by the gym doors) and exit either at the pods or through the Main Office doors.

5th Grade Supply List

5th Grade Supply List 2021 – 2022   

The TGMS PTO will provide the following for all students:

1 roll transparent tape


1 Red pen

1 pack colored pencils, sharpened

1 highlighter

1 fine tip Sharpie

Large glue sticks

1 pack loose-leaf notebook paper

1 pack of crayons

One bottle of Elmer’s glue

Parents are asked to provide the following:

1 Wired Earbuds (no wifi/bluetooth, must be left at school)

1 4-pack dry erase markers

1 pair of pointed scissors

1 2” sturdy 3-ring binder

1 pack 8-tab notebook dividers

2 composition notebooks

1 pencil pouch (no boxes)

1 large box of tissues

1 roll of masking tape

Boys only: 1 box of gallon Ziploc bags

Girls only:  1 box snack size Ziploc bags

6th Grade Supply List

1 bottle of Elmer’s liquid glue

Parents are asked to provide the following:

1 Earbuds (no wireless)

Pencil bag – no boxes

3 Dry erase markers

2 pr. Scissors size appropriate

3 Composition notebooks

1 pk Index cards 3 X 5

1 box tissues

Optional:  Touching Spirit Bear — novel for sixth grade **There will be additional supplies requested by teams**
