Highlights of the Pickerington Schools Board of Education Meeting

BOARD MEMBERS: Keith Kristoff, President;  JD Postage, Vice President; Clay Lopez, Vanessa Niekamp, Cathy Olshefski

The following are selected highlights from the January 9, 2023 Regular Board Meeting held at the District Office located at 90 North East Street in Pickerington.

• Dr. Lori Foltz-Rea of the Teaching and Learning office presented to the Board information on Pickerington Schools Secondary Program of Studies. 

• The Board approved the Tax Budget for fiscal year 2024.

• The Board accepted, with regret, the resignation of R. Jay Sharrett as Pickerington High School Central Social Studies Teacher and Head Football Coach effective March 1, 2023 due to retirement. Mr. Sharrett served the District for 35 years! Twenty of those years were coaching Tiger Football!

• The Board accepted, with regret,  the resignation of Hershel Grant as Heritage Elementary Custodian, effective February 1, 2023, due to retirement. Mr. Grant has served the District for 20 years!

• The Board approved the appointment of John Davis as Custodian at Ridgeview STEM Junior High, Zachary Jenkins as Praprofessional ID at Sycamore Creek Elementary, and the appointment of April Kim as Health Care Assistant at Heritage Elementary and Pickerington High School North. Please join us in welcoming our newest staff members!

• The Board discussed the proposed 2023-24 School Year Calendar and the 2024-2025 School Year Skekleton Calendar.

• The Board held a first reading of the revised job description for Safety and Security Supervisor.
