Highlights of the Pickerington Schools Board of Education Meeting

BOARD MEMBERS: Keith Kristoff, President;  JD Postage, Vice President; Clay Lopez, Vanessa Niekamp, Cathy Olshefski

The following are selected highlights from the May 8, 2023 Regular Board Meeting held at the District Office located at 90 North East Street in Pickerington.

• Kristina Hulse, Executive Director of Student Services, Todd Stanley, presented “Plan for Progress - Where Student Services Fits In.”

• The Board is pleased to appoint Ashley Hughes to the Pickerington Public Library Board Trustees.

• The Board accepted with regret the resignation due to retirement of Karen McDaniel, Cook at Pickerington High School Central. Ms. McDaniel has served the district for 23 years! Please join us in wishing Ms. McDaniel well!

• The Board approved the appointment of Mark Corbett, Layla Emswiler, Adam Sturdevant, and Elisha Arnott as Support Personnel. Please join us in welcoming our newest staff members!

• The Board approved the appointment of Alfred Weaver Jr. as Custodian at Lakeview Junior High. Let’s welcome our newest custodian! 

• The Board approved the following certified personnel contracts:  Emily Jennings as Mathematics Teacher at Pickerington High School North, Lucy Marshall as Grade 1 Teacher at Tussing Elementary, and Phillip “Jamar” Martin as Intervention Specialist at Lakeview Junior High. Please join us in congratulating our newest teachers! 

• The Board approved changes in Board Policies including those concerning tobacco use, state performance indicators, homebound instruction, volunteers, College Credit Plus, and others.

• The Board approved a contract with Steed Hammond Paul, Inc. (SHP) for Districtwide Improvements.
