Highlights of the Pickerington Schools Board of Education Meeting

BOARD MEMBERS: Keith Kristoff, President;  JD Postage, Vice President; Clay Lopez, Vanessa Niekamp, Cathy Olshefski


The following are selected highlights from the April 24, 2023 Regular Board Meeting held at the District Office located at 90 North East Street in Pickerington.

  • The Board is pleased to recognize the winners of the Mission 16 Student Space Flight Program Art Patch Competition. Congratulations to Sycamore Creek Elementary student Isabelle Stadler and Pickerington High School Central graduate Morgan Reed!

  • The Board is pleased to recognize the winners of the Mission 17 Student Space Flight Program Art Patch Competition. Congratulations to Sycamore Creek Elementary student Ava Leidheiser and Pickerington High School Central Student Grace O’Grady! 

  • The Board is pleased to recognize Pickerington High School Central graduates Trevor Blankenship and Isaac Hoshor whose research proposal, “Algae: The Fuel Source of Space,” was chosen to go to space as part of the SSEP Mission 16. Well done!

  • The Board is pleased to recognize Harmon Middle School students Naila Abdi and Abigayel Ghebireegzabher whose research proposal was chosen to accompany astronauts on SSEP Mission 17. Congratulations!

  • Todd Stanley, Coordinator of Gifted Services, presented “Developing Our Talent: Finding a Way to Even The Playing Field.”

  • The Board accepted, with regret, the retirement of Sharon Drummond as Grade 5 Teacher at Toll Gate Middle School effective August 1, 2023 due to retirement. Mrs. Drummond has served the District for 22 years.

  • The Board accepted, with regret, the retirement of Barbara Fetherolf as Intervention Specialist at Pickerington High School Central effective June 1, 2023 due to retirement. Ms. Fetherolf has served the District for 27 years.

  • The Board accepted, with regret, the retirement of Beth Klamo as TESOL Teacher at Pickerington Elementary effective June 1, 2023 due to retirement. Ms. Klamo has served the District for 20 years.

  • The Board approved the appointment of Alfred Weaver as Custodian at Lakeview Junior High. Please join us in welcoming our newest staff member.

  • The Board approved the following administrator contracts:  Megan Davis as Assistant Principal at Sycamore Creek Elementary, Shelia Evans as Principal at Ridgeview STEM Junior High, and Trent Miller as Assistant Principal at Fairfield Elementary. Please join us in congratulating our newest administrators!
