Dear PLSD Families, Students, and Staff,
Happy New Year! As we begin in 2025, we do so with renewed hopes and aspirations for the future. It is always a joy to see our community come together with optimism and determination to make each year better than the last.
As you may know, I will officially be retiring on January 31, 2025. Serving as your Superintendent for the past eight years has been one of the greatest honors of my career. Together, we’ve celebrated countless achievements, faced challenges with resilience, and built a stronger, more united district.
During this period of transition, the Board of Education has appointed Dr. Scott J. Hunt to serve as the Interim Superintendent. Dr. Hunt brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to student success. Over the next few weeks, I will be working closely with Dr. Hunt to ensure a smooth and seamless transition. I will continue to be available to support the District until my final day on January 31.
Please join me in warmly welcoming Dr. Hunt to Pickerington Local Schools. I have no doubt you will extend the same kindness and support to him that you have so graciously shown me.

Hello Pickerington Community/Staff, Families, and Students,
It is with great enthusiasm and a deep sense of responsibility that I introduce myself as the Interim Superintendent of the Pickerington Local School District. My name is Dr. Scott J. Hunt, and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve this exceptional community during this time of transition.
With 35 years of experience in the field of education, I bring a commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and innovative environment for all. Throughout my career, I have prioritized student success, collaboration, and transparency, and I firmly believe that by working together, we can remain on track to accomplish great things while the Board searches for a permanent Superintendent.
As Interim Superintendent, my focus will be on ensuring continuity and stability while addressing the immediate needs of the district. Some of my key priorities include:
- Maintaining clear and open communication with the Board of Education and all stakeholders.
- Supporting our dedicated staff in delivering high-quality educational opportunities for all students.
- Building on the District's strengths while preparing the foundation for the next phase of leadership.
I recognize that our schools are the heart of the community, and I am committed to listening, learning, and collaborating with all of you to uphold the district's mission and values. I have already begun meeting with staff and will continue connecting with families, students, and community partners in the coming weeks to better understand your goals, challenges, and aspirations.
Together, we will navigate this transitional period with a shared commitment to excellence and a steadfast focus on what matters most—our students. I am confident that by working together, we will continue to make Pickerington a place where all students can thrive and strive to be future ready!
