Pickerington Local School District Exceeds State Standards on Ohio School Report Card
Doubles the Number of Schools Earning 5 Out of 5 Stars
September 13, 2024 - For the second year in a row, Pickerington Local School District (PLSD) has exceeded state standards, earning an impressive 4.5 out of 5 stars on the Ohio School Report Card. This overall rating reflects the District’s continued commitment to academic excellence and student achievement.
“Our 4.5-star rating is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and collaboration of our educators, students, and families,” said PLSD Superintendent/CEO Dr. Chris Briggs. “We’re proud of our progress and the success we are seeing across all our schools.”
Highlights of the 2023-2024 Ohio School Report Card include:
- Overall Rating: 4.5 Stars – Exceeds State Standards
- Achievement: 4 Stars – Exceeds State Standards
- Progress: 4 Stars – Exceeds State Standards
- Gap Closing: 5 Stars – Significantly Exceeds State Standards
- Graduation: 5 Stars – Significantly Exceeds State Standards
- Early Literacy: 3 Stars – Meets State Standards
Additionally, the District has doubled the number of schools achieving top marks, earning 5 out of 5 stars:
- Toll Gate Elementary
- Sycamore Creek Elementary
- Diley Middle School
- Toll Gate Middle School
"Our 4.5-star rating indicates our District's commitment to providing a quality education for every student in every classroom, every day," said Assistant Superintendent/Chief Academic Officer Alesia Gillison. "From our building leadership and innovative teaching staff who continue to utilize high-quality instructional materials and implement evidence-based instructional strategies. Our supportive families, active participation in the educational process, and students who show up ready to learn. This achievement highlights the commitment of every individual across the District to fostering growth and excellence for our students, and we're excited to continue this momentum in the years to come," she added.
Pickerington Local Schools also demonstrated excellence in specific areas such as Gifted Performance and Progress and English Learners Progress, each receiving 5 out of 5 points.
Overall District Performance and Progress:
- Earned five out of five points on the Gifted Performance Index
- Earned five out of five points Gifted Progress Points
- Earned five out of five points English Learners Progress Points
Overall District Value Add: (Value add assess academic growth over time):
- All students combined - 4 stars = Exceeds State Standards
- Gifted students - 5 stars = Significantly Exceeds State Standards
- Students with Disabilities - 4 stars = Exceeds State Standards
