Highlights of the Pickerington Schools Board of Education Meeting

The following are selected highlights from the November 28, 2022 Regular Board Meeting held at the District Office located at 90 North East Street in Pickerington.

  • Sharon Caccimelio and Lori Seymour of the Teaching and Learning office presented to the Board information on Ohio’s law concerning dyslexia screening, intervention, and remediation and on LETRS ® (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling), a professional learning method for teachers to hone their skills in reading instruction.

  • The Board approved the Bond Resolution and approved the Note Resolution to begin the process of renovating Central and North high schools, building a new junior high school, and renovating other existing school buildings as approved by voters on November 8, 2022. 

  • The Board accepted, with regret, the resignation of Chris Ward as Districtwide Safety and Security Supervisor effective December 3, 2022. We wish Mr. Ward all the best in his new position!

  • The Board accepted, with regret,  the resignation of Lisa DeCarlo as Pickerington High School North Campus Security, effective January 1, 2023 due to retirement. Ms. DeCarlo has served the District for 26 years!

  • The Board approved the appointment of Lida Morris as Paraprofessional at Toll Gate Elementary and the appointment of Cody Reyes as Custodian at Tussing Elementary. Please join us in welcoming our newest staff members!

  • The Board shared information on a Memorandum of Understanding between Therapy Dogs International and Pickerington Schools.  

  • The Board approved the second reading and final adoption of changes to 34 policies.

  • The Board discussed the first reading of two policies.
