Exciting News: Executive Director of Teaching & Learning, Leslie Kelly, Invited to Serve Again on Ohio's State Literacy Team

We are proud to announce that Executive Director of Teaching & Learning, Leslie Kelly, has once again been invited to serve on Ohio’s State Literacy Team for 2024. This marks her second time contributing to this critical initiative, reflecting her expertise and persistent dedication to advancing literacy for all students.

Kelly was previously a member of the State Literacy Team in 2021-2022, where she provided valuable feedback on statewide literacy initiatives. Her continued involvement underscores her commitment to improving literacy outcomes for Ohio’s students. 

“Mrs. Kelly has been a steadfast advocate for principal and teacher development, particularly in the areas of literacy and numeracy,” said Chief Academic Officer/Assistant Superintendent Dr. Alesia Gillison. “Her unwavering mission is to ensure every student can access high-quality literacy instruction. We are honored to have her in Pickerington Local Schools, and we are excited that our very own Mrs. Kelly will be on a team that will impact literacy for all students throughout the state of Ohio.”

As a member of the State Literacy Team, Kelly will work alongside education experts from across the state to provide feedback and input as final revisions are made to Ohio’s Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement. The plan will share researched based strategies and practices to improve literacy outcomes for all Ohio students, from birth through grade 12. The team's united focus is the development of a literacy plan that provides guidance and support for educators and families, ensuring that all students have access to high-quality literacy instruction. Kelly’s insights and expertise will be invaluable in shaping the future of literacy education in Ohio as part of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce State Literacy Team .
