49 Pickerington High School Students Nominated for Governor’s Merit Scholarship
Pickerington Local Schools proudly announces that 49 of its high school students have been nominated for the prestigious Governor’s Merit Scholarship (GMS). This includes 23 students from Pickerington High School North, 23 from Pickerington High School Central, and three from Pickerington Academy.
The GMS aims to recognize and support Ohio’s top high school graduates by offering scholarships of up to $5,000 annually for four years. Its objectives are to:
-
Reduce financial barriers preventing Ohio's top high school graduates from pursuing higher education;
-
Recognize the impressive scholastic achievements of Ohio’s top graduates;
-
Incentivize Ohio’s high-achieving students to attend an Institution of Higher Education (IHE) in Ohio.
Eligible students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, complete at least 20 credit hours per year, and make satisfactory progress toward a degree. The scholarship funds can be used for a variety of educational expenses and are renewable for up to four years.
Award recipients will be notified in early November, giving these students a chance to consider Ohio institutions for their higher education journey. Students must proactively accept the award by informing the Ohio Department of Higher Education of their acceptance and their intended IHE of enrollment by March 1. Awards not accepted by that date will be rescinded.
This initiative plays a critical role in keeping Ohio’s best and brightest in the state, contributing to a strong, educated workforce. Click here for more information on the Governor’s Merit Scholarship.
