Pickerington High School Central Celebrates Inaugural Military Signing Day

Pickerington High School Central held a signing day for 9 military-committed students. 

Pickerington, Ohio [May 10, 2023] — Pickerington High School Central proudly hosted its first-ever Military Signing Day, marking a significant milestone for the school as an Ohio Purple Star School. The event recognized graduating seniors who have made commitments to serve in various branches of the U.S. military.

The ceremony took place at the high school's media center for families and faculty to attend. It commenced with the presentation of colors by American Legion Post 283, followed by a heartfelt rendition of the national anthem performed by Penelope Dunger. Barbara Tucker and Elizabeth Keese, representatives of the Blue Star Mothers, addressed the students and presented them with ceremonial cords.

Representatives from the National Guard, Army National Guard, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy were in attendance to honor and support the students. Their presence underscored the commitment and dedication of these young individuals to serve their country.

Closing remarks were delivered by Assistant Principal Heather Tinsley, who expressed pride in the students' commitment to serving their country and acknowledged the tremendous opportunities that lie ahead for each signee.

This occasion at Pickerington High School Central not only celebrates the individual accomplishments of these students but also underscores the school's support for those who choose to pursue a career in the military.
