Letter from the Principal

Dear Ridgeview Families,

I cannot believe that the 2019-2020 school year is almost here! We are extremely excited to welcome everyone back into the building.  The entire staff at Ridgeview has been working hard this summer to prepare for the upcoming year. It is going to be a great school year!

To simplify things for busy parents, we have created an online “one-stop shop” with most of the 2019-20 back-to-school information you will need. This includes placing our back-to-school forms, school supply lists, student handbooks, transportation information, and other info online to reduce printing costs.  This is our second year with our new online forms system, OneView Forms, which will make the process of filling out forms for your children much easier, as much of the information you will be asked to complete will be imported from Infinite Campus.  If you completed a OneView form last year, you will simply update it. ***Both Infinite Campus and OneView should be completed separately, thank you.

Parents must fill out all back-to-school forms online before the start of the school year. Forms for high school and junior high school students must be completed before students will receive their schedules. You will need your child’s student ID (the same as his/her lunch number) to complete this process. You should also have reviewed your child’s student handbooks, as you will be asked to confirm that you have done so as part of this process.

Please make sure that you and your student read the Student Handbook. Grades K thru 8 and the high schools will be moving to a new personal communication device (PCD) policy. For purposes of this policy, “personal communication device” (PCD) includes computers, tablets (e.g., iPad like devices), electronic readers (“e-readers”; e.g., Kindle like devices), cell phones, and smartphones (e.g., iPhones, Android devices, Windows Mobile devices, etc.). Students in grades preschool-8 may use personal communication devices (PCDs) only before and after school. Use of PCDs, except those approved by a teacher or administrator, at any other time is prohibited and must be powered completely off (i.e., not just placed into vibrate or silent mode) and stored out of sight. Please have this discussion with your student so they are aware of the new policy on PCD.

While there, you may also wish to review the policies on dress code, as well as Attendance. Good attendance is critical to your child’s success.  Please make routine appointments and travel plans outside of school hours whenever possible. Note: travel / vacations are not an excused absence.  Please see the Student Handbook for more information on the PLSD attendance policies and a list of excused absence reasons.

As our summer comes to an end, we would like to invite you to join us for a few important events. Ridgeview Junior High will be open for Tiger Schedule pickup days on Wednesday, August 7th from  8 to 11 A.M. and Thursday, August 8th from 4 to 7:00 P.M. Both grade levels are welcome during these times. In order to participate in Tiger Schedule pickup days the following is required:

  • Emergency medical forms fully completed and signed by the parent/guardian and student online. Again to begin this process, just visit 2019-20 Back-to-School Information
  • Provide proof of Tdap and meningococcal immunizations for 7th grade and new students.

Be prepared for the following during this time:

  • Take a self guided tours of the building
  • Pick up Chromebooks
  • Pick up class schedules
  • Pay past school fees, if applies

Ridgeview will also hold an Open House on Tuesday, August 13th from 5 to 7pm. Details for our open house will be released later in the summer.

To ensure that you are receiving the most up to date school information please follow us on  Social Media:  Facebook page, Ridgeview STEM Junior High and on Twitter @RidgeviewPLSD. Finally, we would also encourage everyone to register and/or update their infinite campus portal information online.  There are step-by-step directions on our website from the district of how to accomplish this, and this contact information is critical to not only keeping you updated, but being able to reach you in the event of an emergency or illness at school. We look forward to collaborating with you during this upcoming school year. Enjoy the rest of your summer and we will see you on Tiger Schedule pickup days, Open House and August 15th for the first day of school.

Support Your PTO

Your Ridgeview PTO has some exciting things planned for the upcoming school year. We encourage everyone to join the PTO. Membership is only a suggested donation of $20 and goes a long way in enabling us to provide fun programs and activities for the students and staff at RJHS.  During the school year, we strive to provide opportunities for parents and families to be involved as much or as little as they want to be.  Being a member does not obligate you to additional time or funds.  If you are interested in getting more involved, please download our membership form (PDF) | membership form (RTF) and our volunteer application.  Thank you. We can’t do it without you!

We are also looking to fill some positions that remain open for the upcoming school year as some of our parents got “promoted” to high school!
