Letter from the Principal

We hope that you are enjoying a fun and restful summer. The staff at Ridgeview has been very busy preparing to welcome a new group of students to Ridgeview on the first day of school, August 15.

  • Please make a note of the 2018/2019 Bell Schedule (RTF).  The first bell is at 7:10 am. Set those alarms clocks!
  • The students’ 7-period school day begins at 7:15 am and ends at 2:10 pm. All students will take math, English/language arts, science, and social studies, along with two electives. The other period will be their lunch and E/I (enrichment and intervention). All classes will be 60 minutes in length; lunch and E/I will be 30 minutes each.
  • Students will be placed on individual teams of the same teachers. This should help make the transition from middle school a little easier, as well as aid in parent communication and scheduling parent-teacher conferences as all of your child’s teachers will be working closely together on a daily basis.
  • Please complete all of our back to school online forms at our OneView website, thank you!
  • Students will be given locker assignments with their schedules.  Students are not permitted to carry book bags during the school day.
  • Shopping for back to school clothes? Please note that the dress code will be strictly enforced at RJHS. The dress code policy is detailed in the Student Handbook, which your child will review on the first day of school. I encourage you to also familiarize yourself with the content of the Student Handbook, which will be published online. Pants and shorts must fit appropriately; no sagging or exposure of undergarments is permitted. Skirts and shorts must extend at least to the end of the thumb, with arms hanging naturally at your sides. Straps on shirts must be at least three fingers width; no spaghetti straps are permitted. No hats, bandanas, scarves, or headwear are permitted except on specially designated days. No pajamas or slippers are permitted, except on specially designated days.
  • Please note the change in the Pickerington Schools Wireless Device Policy: Phones may only be used before and after school and must be turned off during the school day.
  • Attendance is critical to your child’s success.  Please make routine appointments and travel plans outside of school hours whenever possible.  Note:  travel / vacations are not an excused absence.  Please see the Student Handbook for more information on the PLSD attendance policies and a list of excused absence reasons.
  • Keep an eye on the webpage this summer for important information.
  • In addition to updating OneView, please take a moment to update your information on the Infinite Campus parent portal.  We frequently send emails to parents containing updates, calendar events, and other important information. Make sure we have a good email address, as well as all current phone numbers where we can reach you in the event of an emergency.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Support Your PTO

Your Ridgeview PTO has some exciting things planned for the upcoming school year. We encourage everyone to join the PTO. Membership is only a suggested donation of $20 and goes a long way in enabling us to provide fun programs and activities for the students and staff at RJHS.  During the school year, we strive to provide opportunities for parents and families to be involved as much or as little as they want to be.  Being a member does not obligate you to additional time or funds.  If you are interested in getting more involved, please download our membership form (PDF) | membership form (RTF) and our volunteer application.  Thank you. We can’t do it without you!

We are also looking to fill some positions that remain open for the upcoming school year as some of our parents got “promoted” to high school!
