Absence Reporting

All absences and known late arrivals should be reported before 9:30 a.m. You can do this by calling the 24-hour hotline at 614.548.1401, or calling the office at 614.548.1400. Please do not email the teacher as they may be absent, or may not have time to check their email before the office does attendance. Students who arrive after 9:10 am, but prior to 9:40 a.m., will be counted tardy.

Student Pick-Up and Drop Off Procedures

In order for us to safely supervise your children, please do not drop them off at school prior to 9:05 am.

Thank you for your cooperation in following our procedures for arrival and dismissal of students.  Together we can make this a safe environment for your children.

Morning Arrival:

  • Please follow the arrows on the driveway for our drop off traffic pattern.
  • A staff member is available to help direct your child to his or her classroom until 9:15 a.m.
  • If possible, please allow your child to ride the bus to school.

Afternoon Dismissal:

  • Unless we have a note (phone call in an emergency), your child will be dismissed by his or her normal dismissal procedure.
  • If you are picking up your child, please follow the arrows on the driveway to the back of the building near the gym.  It would be helpful if you pulled up as close as possible to the car ahead of you.
  • Once again, if possible, please allow your child to ride the bus home.

Please remember that all of these procedures were established to ensure the safety and well-being of every student in our building.

Student Pick-Up Prior to Dismissal Time

Also, remember if you need to pick up your child before dismissal time, please report to the office to sign out the student. Please do not go directly to the classroom. The student will be called to the office from the classrooms.


Visiting the Building

If you are visiting our school during school hours, remember that you will need to sign in at the office and wear a visitor pass during your visit at Pickerington Elementary.

If you are planning to have lunch with your student at school, please call before 10:00 a.m.to order your lunch. Upon arrival at school, please come to the office for your visitor pass before going to the lunchroom or classroom.

Change of Address / Updating Student Information

All requests for changes of address on school records must be submitted to the Welcome Center for processing. Residential address changes cannot be processed by a child’s school office staff or by Petermann Transportation.

Any changes to a student’s home address must be requested on the district’s change of student information form. This form includes a standard authorization, to be signed by the parent, allowing for the release of residential and utility information to Pickerington Schools upon request, if necessary.

This release also includes an explanation, per Ohio Revised Code, as to how it is determined where your child is to receive his/her tuition-free, public school education. By signing this release, you are also verifying that you have been informed of your legal responsibility to withdraw a child from school if you ever move outside school district boundaries. It also informs you of your tuition obligations if you fail to withdraw.

If you do not have the capability to print the form, contact the Welcome Center at 614.920.6180. We will be happy to mail, email or fax the form to you for completion. You also may pick up or return the form directly to the Welcome Center, rather than turning it in at your school office for intra-office transfer to us. This expedites the address change process.

After a change of student information form is received at our Welcome Center, the request will be checked to verify that:

  • the request has been signed and dated by the parent of the student;
  • acceptable proof of the change in residence is attached to the request;
  • an open enrollment request has been completed, if applicable. This is necessary if a change of residence, made during the school year, causes a change in the student’s attendance area but the parent wishes to have the student finish the current school year at his/her current building. Such a request is only considered for the student’s continued attendance through the end of the current school year. Note that buses do not cross school boundary lines to accommodate open enrollment students. Parents are responsible for transportation.

If the move has caused a change in the building the student is to attend, the involved school buildings are notified and the electronic and physical transfer of records takes place. Arrangements for the official start date in the new school can be made between you and the office staff of your child’s new school.

Bus transportation after change of address

The Welcome Center will notify Petermann Transportation of your change of home address. If bus service is available in your new area for your child, we begin the steps needed to arrange a new bus stop location “from and to” your new residence. Petermann staff establish all bus stops and notify drivers as quickly as possible. Your school building office staff will obtain all bus stop information from Petermann Transportation.

If a new bus stop must be established at any point in the route where the driver does not currently make a stop, this process may take two to three days. If necessary, your child’s school office can issue a bus pass if your child must ride the bus before the change can be finalized by Petermann Transportation.

This change in address change procedure applies only to changes in the actual physical address where a parent and the student reside. A temporary change of bus stop location at a place other than the student’s home (for situations such as babysitting arrangements) may be accepted in the school office of the building where your child attends.

A form requesting a new bus stop location can be downloaded from Petermann Transportation. The Welcome Center does not handle these changes. The forms should be submitted to your child’s school office or faxed them directly to Petermann Transportation.

For reference, one of the maps superimposes the junior high/high school attendance boundaries over the elementary school boundaries. For a complete set of attendance maps, visit the district website.

Note that these maps should not be used when purchasing a home in Pickerington Schools, particularly near the shown boundaries. To confirm the attendance area of any property in the district, call our Welcome Center at 614.920.6180.

Volunteer in our School

Individuals interested in volunteering in our schools must fill out an application and submit it to a building principal.

News From the Clinic

Please complete and sign the emergency medical form, then return it to school as soon as possible.

If information changes, especially phone numbers please let us know as soon as possible. Clinic staff members often check the emergency medical forms first when contacting parents, so it is important that everything is up-to-date.

The clinic is always looking for gently used clothing for when children have accidents of one sort or another and a parent is unable to bring clean clothes.  We especially could use bottoms—shorts, athletic pants, or sweats.



Students may pay for meals in advance.  Money can be deposited into the student’s account with cash, check or money order as the child is going through the line.  No change will be given to students.  Money will be deducted from the student’s account when the student enters his/her special ID number when going through the lunch line.  Checks can be made payable to “Pickerington Local Food Service”.  You may also make deposits and check account balances for your student online.  Please make sure to have your student’s name and ID number on all forms of payment.  Visit the My Payments Plus website and have your student’s account number ready for reference.
