Pickerington Schools is one of 22 schools and districts being recognized for education technology initiatives as part of the Schools of TechXcellence program. This is the second year for this national recognition program.

The district is being recognized for its use of virtual reality, in which students use virtual reality headsets to experience far-off worlds, microscopic environments, and historical places. Pickerington has invested in one VR kit for each building and hopes to use the virtual experiences to close the achievement gaps.

TechXcellence was created by District Administration magazine, and sponsored by HP and Intel, to recognize schools that have implemented innovative, effective and replicable technology programs that contribute meaningfully to student or operational success. The June 2018 honorees were selected by the program’s judges from numerous nominations, and reflect programs that demonstrate effective and replicable success.
