Notice of Hearing Regarding the Planning and Use of IDEA B and other Federal Funds

Notice of Hearing by Pickerington Schools Regarding the Planning and Use of IDEA B and other Federal Funds (Title I, Title II-A, Title III, Title IV-A) for the 2022-23 school year

A local educational agency (LEA) must use IDEA Part B funds only for the excess costs of providing special education and related services to children with disabilities, and the funds must be used to supplement State, local and other Federal Funds, except where IDEA specifically provides otherwise.  These funds are to be used for the purpose of providing for the education and services of students with a disability, to strengthen education, drive reforms and improve results for students’ ages 3 through 21.

The LEA must make available to parents of children with disabilities and to the general public all documents relating to the eligibility of the agency under Part B.

Additionally, all LEAs are to provide reasonable opportunities for the participation by teachers, parents, and other interested agencies, organizations, and individuals in the planning for and operation of each applicable program under which Federal funds are made available to such agency through a State agency; and that any application, evaluation, periodic program plan or report relating to each program will be made readily available to parents and other members of the general public.

Accordingly, during the September 28, 2022 Regular Meeting of the Pickerington School District Board of Education, the district will share how they intend to spend their federal funding allocations for the 2022-23 school year (IDEA-B, Title I, Title II-A, Title III, and Title IV-A).  This meeting will also allow for the opportunity for public comments and input.
