Masks Optional for All PLSD Grades Beginning Jan. 4

Masks Optional Begins Jan. 4 image

Dear Pickerington Community,

Now that COVID-19 vaccinations are readily available for students in grades K-6, Pickerington Schools will make masks optional for all K-12 students beginning January 4, 2022.

This January 4 date was carefully selected to allow time over the upcoming Thanksgiving and Winter Breaks for parents to get their school-aged children vaccinated, if desired. Please know that any student always has the option to wear a mask inside any of our PLSD buildings.

The health and safety of our schools and community has always been our number one priority. So, as we move forward with this mask optional implementation, we encourage all students and staff to follow proper public safety protocols, which include asking those who are not vaccinated to wear masks. We still need your help to keep everyone safe, which will not happen if safety protocols are not followed. Quarantine protocols will remain the same for vaccinated and unvaccinated students and staff, as per our current practice detailed in my Oct. 26 Letter About Quarantine Protocols.

Thank you again for your continued support, patience and understanding and we take this next step forward in our pandemic journey together.

Sincerely,

Dr. Chris Briggs
Superintendent
Pickerington Schools
