Harmon Student to Help Present at State Conference

Rida Ali and her Kahoot Presentation

Harmon Middle School fifth-grader Rida Ali will be sharing information about Pakistan with teachers from around Ohio at the upcoming Ohio TESOL conference this Friday.

Rida will present a “Kahoot” about Pakistan that she developed and presented at the recent Pickerington Schools CommUNITY Fair, which celebrates diversity in our district.

Teacher Jennifer McGraner was so impressed with Rida’s project that she invited the student to join her at the Ohio TESOL conference as she presented information about Kahoot to educators around the state.

TESOL is an organization for Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages. A Kahoot is a game-based digital learning platform that can be shared online. Rida’s Kahoot was designed to teach others about her family’s home country.

“Rida loves learning from Kahoot and was inspired to become a leader and create her own Kahoot!” McGraner said. “She created the Kahoot with me during EL instruction and then shared with her classmates. She researched, created her own questions, and then added images.”

Great work, Rida, and thanks for making Pickerington proud! #PLSDproud
