(Pickerington, OH) Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools’ Multimedia Satellite, located at Pickerington High School North, participated in the state’s first-ever Ohio Business Professionals of America Virtual State Conference in April. The event was moved to a virtual competition following the cancelation of the state conference due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Multimedia Satellite garnered five top-three finishes during the event, including two state championships. All students competing attend Pickerington High School North and Canal Winchester High School.

The website design team of Bella Floyd, Nathan Ohrman, Ellie Rider, and Ani Watts claimed first place in their competition, continuing the program’s streak of state championships in the website design competition. The Multimedia Satellite has won state titles in this contest in 2018, 2019, and now 2020. The video production team of Enrique Cabotage, Matt Ferguson, Julien Martinez (Canal Winchester High School student), and Justen Turner won first prize in their competition. The video production team celebrates their second consecutive year winning the state championship. They also won the national championship in the event in 2019.

The presentation management team of Ian Fisher, Isabelle Lynch, Emily Piekenbrock, and Caroline Rowell took second place in their competition. Garret Cox and Teddi Heberle finished second and third in the fundamentals of website design competition, respectively.

All of the top three finishers would have advanced to the BPA National Competition that was scheduled for June in Maryland. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, however, the event was canceled for 2020.

Also competing and placing during the state virtual competition was the computer animation team of Anna Glanzman and Caroline Harrington, finishing in sixth place in their event, while Kayla Solon earned a fifth-place finish in Entrepreneurship.

Jonathan Pinkerton (Pickerington High School North) and his team earned the top spot in the BPA’s first-ever “Students Recruiting Students Video Contest sponsored by Avidity Creates”. The team will receive a $500 financial award, earn the opportunity to have professional mentorship from the sponsoring agency, and their winning video will be included in the National organization’s video library for agency-wide use.

With their team, Gabe Carmo (Pickerington High School North) and Jalen Ivy (Pickerington High School Central) earned second place in Virtual Web Application Team competition.
