Tracey Gates

I grew up in the country outside of Findlay, Ohio. I went from a school that was K-12 with 30 people in my class to Ohio State University. It was a little bit of culture shock :). While at Ohio State I was a member of the OSUMB. My son Jacob will be a senior at The Ohio State University and my daughter Gabrielle is going to be a Sophmore at Ohio State. I also have a menagerie of furry ‘kids’ at home too. Jager is my German Shepherd, Nellie and Chloe are my two small dogs. Along with my dogs I have 5 rescued cats: Mira, Milo, Oliver, Lilly, and Maxine. My husband Tom has threatened the limit has been surpassed! My dad just laughs because he doesn’t have to deal with my bringing strays home all the time.
Our classroom has its share of pets too. Chomps is our Bearded Dragon, Penelope our hedgehog, and Hops is our frog. We will be learning about habitats and care of these animals during our animal unit.
My teaching career began in Arizona. I taught 4th grade while receiving my Masters degree from Northern Arizona University. We moved to PIckerington in 1995 and I began teaching at Violet Elementary in 3rd grade. I moved to Toll Gate when it opened and continued to teach 3rd grade. Two years ago I moved to second grade and loved it. I am currently a 2nd grade teacher at Toll Gate Elementary.
