Students Arriving In The Morning
Students should not arrive before 8:30 AM. Classrooms are open to the children at 8:30 AM, and school begins at 8:40 AM.  Note:  We do not have supervision available in the cafeteria until 8:30 AM.  Please do not drop your child off prior to this time, unless it has been approved by school personnel.

Reporting An Absence
If a student is going to be absent or late from school, the parents or guardians must call the office (614-835-2000) by 9:30 AM to report such absence. Senate Bill 321, “The Missing Child Act,” requires schools to verify a child's absence and report any problems to the proper authorities.

Leaving School During School Hours
When picking up your child for an appointment, you must first report to the office to sign them out. Parents should not go directly to the classrooms. Any parents or visitors in the buildings must sign in at the office first and pick up a Visitor's Pass. These procedures are in place for the safety of all our students.

Students are required to be in school the entire day, but may be excused for the following reasons:

1. Personal illness of student;
2. Illness in the student's family;
3. Death in the family;
4. Quarantine for contagious disease, or;
5. Religious reasons.

Students who leave school early for reasons not permitted by state law may or may not be excused. Please attempt to make all appointments (doctor/dentist) before or after school hours. Students who are chronically tardy or leaving school early will be monitored and subject to the compulsory education laws of the state. Any student absence that occurs outside of those defined as excused absences will be treated as unexcused.

The following are examples of unexcused absences: sporting events, shopping, hair appointments, missing the bus, overslept, dance or piano lessons, etc. If it is necessary for a student to leave school early, please make arrangements to pick up your student prior to 2:30 PM. Early dismissals after 2:30 should be for emergency situations only.

Picking Up Students at the End of the Day
All children who are either walking home, riding a bicycle, or being picked up in cars, must report to the cafeteria at dismissal (3:05 PM), where they will be dismissed by teachers on duty. Parents, please wait until these children have been dismissed by teachers on duty.

Reporting Change Of Student Information
It is very important that the office have a telephone number or contact person to reach during the day in case of emergency. If you have changed jobs or have information that has changed from the first of the year, please send this information to the office as soon as possible.

Holiday and Vacation Absences
Please have your child pick up a preplanned absence form from the office when you know they will be out for these occasions.
