DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOLS MOVE TO AN EIGHT-PERIOD DAY
The high schools have moved to an eight-period day for the 2012-2013 school year. Under the new schedule, each period is 45 minutes in length and students will have a dedicated lunch period.

“Last year we had a seven-period day with 50 minutes of class time,” said Pickerington High School Central Principal Zack Howard.

“The eight-period day allows for more flexibility in course scheduling, in addition to a dedicated lunch period, ” he said. The District hopes the change will be a success for all.

“This adjustment allows us to weigh the pros and cons throughout the year and continue to tweak the schedule until we find the one that allows for maximum student achievement,” Howard continued.

There will be a newly formed committee involving many stakeholders to analyze these pros and cons in an effort to tweak the schedule on an ongoing basis to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our students.
