Monica Lavelle Receives Educator Award at Conference

Monica Lavelle receiving the Celebrate Teaching Distinguished Educator Award

Congratulations to Monica Lavelle, Toll Gate Elementary School second grade teacher, for receiving the Celebrate Teaching Distinguished Educator Award from Battelle for Kids. This award encompasses what it means to be an outstanding educator.

The intention of the Celebrate Teaching award is to recognize and support educators who have had a powerful impact on students, colleagues and their community, inspire future educators, and to thank the teachers who have dedicated their lives to making a difference for kids they work with.

Battelle for Kids has been recognizing outstanding Ohio educators since 2012. The teachers honored at the ceremony during the conference represent excellence in the teaching profession.

Lavelle received the award and was recognized while attending the Educators Connect for Success Conference after being nominated by one of her colleagues.

Her nominators describe Lavelle as a collaborative, professional, and patient problem-solver who always has the best interest of her kids in the forefront. She also assisted in the Wit and Wisdom English/Language Arts program at the second grade level.

Congratulations Monica. You make Pickerington proud!
