Congratulations to Harmon Middle School sixth grader Anna Tedford, whose essay has won the Ohio Civil Rights Commission’s “2017 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Art, Writing, and Multimedia Contest.”
More than 900 entries were submitted to the competition this year. Only one winner is selected from each grade level. The competition is sponsored, in part, by PNC, Hondo of America, and Wright State University.
Anna’s work will be among the works showcased at a March 2 ceremony. Student winners will receive an award and be formally recognized for their participation and hard work at the event, which will be at 10 a.m. at the Vern Riffe State Office Tower, 77 South High Street, in the 31st Floor Meeting Room.
“We greatly appreciate (Anna’s) participation and commitment to promoting diversity and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr,” said Mary Turocy, Director of Public Affairs and Civic Engagement for the ORC.
