District Earns Awards for Financial Reporting

Pickerington Schools and the district’s Treasurer’s Office have recently received two awards for¬†excellence in financial reporting.

Popular Annual Financial Report

Following a review by a panel of independent reviewers, the district’s Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) has received the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting from the ¬†Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. The award was presented for the PAFR that covered the fiscal year of July 1, 2015, to June 30, 2016. The evaluation included evaluation of information presented, reader appeal, understandability, distribution, and other elements.

“It is well done. The information is streamlined and well-organized,” reviewers said. “The use of colorful photographs, charts, and graphics provides visual interest and appeals to readers.”

Comprehensive Annual Financial Report

Pickerington Schools has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellences in Financial Reporting from the GFOA. The award was presented to the district for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR.)

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting. Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a governmental agency and its administrators.

The district’s CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel of meeting the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and to motivate potential users and user groups to read the document.
