STUDENT ABSENCE OR LATE ARRIVAL
The school day starts at 9:10 a.m. when students should be in their classroom. Any student arriving after 9:10 a.m. will be considered late. If students arrive after 9:10 we ask parents to bring the students into the office to sign-in and obtain a classroom pass. Please do not drop students off unattended at the front of the building.
Absences and known late arrivals should be reported before 9:30 a.m.. You may call the 24 hour Attendance Hotline at 614-834-6201. Please do not email the teacher as they may be absent, or may not have time to check their email before the office does attendance.
STUDENT EARLY SIGN OUT OR DISMISSAL CHANGE
o If you need to pick up your child early, please send a note to your child’s teacher, and then come to the office at the designated time and the office will then call your child from the classroom.
o Any request for early dismissal or changes in transportation must be made by 2:00 p.m. unless there is an emergency.
ADDRESS CHANGES
All students address changes are completed at the District Welcome Center located at Ridgeview Jr. High School. You may obtain Change of Student Information Forms on the District website under Forms. Proof of residency change is required to change an address. It is important that we have the most up-to-date information on our students.
CUSTODY CHANGES
If there has been any change in custody, please submit updated court documentation to the school.
HOMEWORK REQUESTS
If you need to request homework, you may do so on the attendance line at 834-6201 when you are calling in your student absence. We ask all homework requests be submitted by 10:00 a.m. to provide enough time for teacher to complete work to go home. If picking up work in the office, remember to pick-up after 2:00 and prior to 4:00 p.m.
BE PREPARED
Please remind your students to bring the supplies they need for the day with them to school in the morning to help avoid disruptions in the classroom. For example, hats, gloves, coats, shoes, homework, papers to return, lunch money or lunch, books, etc.
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday with the class, we invite you to send non-food items such as stickers, pencils, erasers, or a book or game for the class. We no longer permit any food items to be part of the classroom birthday celebration. This practice will be in place for every classroom at Sycamore Creek Elementary.
