District Receives Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting
The Pickerington Local School District Treasurer’s Office received the Excellence in Financial Reporting award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the District's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) during the September 12, board of education meeting. This is the 19th consecutive year the Treasurer's Office has received this honor.
"We are very pleased to receive this recognition, " said Dan Griscom, treasurer of the Pickerington Local School District. "Financial accountability to the community is very important to our school board and administration. Our goal is to deliver excellence in our financial reporting and communications to our citizens. The Pickerington community deserves nothing less."
The GFOA Certificate of Excellence is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Receipt of this award represents a significant accomplishment by the District and its fiscal management practices.
This award represents the fiscal year ending June 30, 2010.
The CAFR is the District's audited annual financial report prepared in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America. The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel, convened to meet the high standards of the GFOA program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C.
